Privacy Policy
Last updated 9 August 2026
This policy explains what personal data SaturnKSP ("we", "us", "our") collects through saturnksp.com, why we collect it, and the choices and rights you have over it. We're a UK Kerbal Space Program launch company based in Newquay, Cornwall, founded in 2021.
Who we are
SaturnKSP operates saturnksp.com and its Aerospace, Defense and AI pages. You can reach us at [email protected], or via the Contact / Complaints page.
What we collect
| Data | When | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Email address, password (stored as a salted hash — we never see or store your plain-text password) | Creating an account | To let you sign in and manage your account |
| Marketing opt-in flag, and the date you set it | Sign-up, or later in Account settings | To respect your choice about receiving marketing emails |
| The date you accepted our Terms of Service | Sign-up | Record-keeping — proof you agreed |
| IP address and the action attempted (login/sign-up) | Every login or sign-up attempt | Security — detecting and slowing down automated abuse |
| IP address and the action taken (e.g. logging in, changing a preference, or an admin action on your account) | Every signed-in account or admin action | Security and accountability — auditing who did what, from where |
| Cookie/analytics choice (Accept or Reject) | First visit | So we don't ask you again — see our Cookie Policy |
| Name (optional), email, and your message | Submitting the Contact / Complaints form | To respond to your message |
| Discord username, application email, Kerbal Space Program experience, motivation, answers to role-specific questions, application status, application messages, and staff review notes. Flight requests additionally include contact, organisation, payload, mass, target and attachment metadata. | Applying for an open role and communicating with the team about that application | To assess your application, contact you, record recruitment decisions, and keep the application conversation available in your account |
We only ask for your name on the Contact / Complaints form, and it's optional there. We don't ask for your address or payment details anywhere on this site at present. The careers form explains the application data it sends before you submit it.
Our legal basis for processing
- Contract — account email, password and consent timestamps, so we can provide the account features you signed up for.
- Legitimate interests — contact form submissions (name, email, message), so we can respond to you; and IP/action logging for login and sign-up attempts and for signed-in account/admin actions, to protect accounts from automated abuse and keep an audit trail of who did what.
- Consent — marketing emails, and any non-essential cookies, which are both off by default and only enabled if you actively opt in.
For careers applications, we rely on our legitimate interests in assessing applicants, keeping recruitment records, and communicating with people who apply.
Rideshare and dedicated-flight requests are processed for launch planning and payload integration. You can download or erase these requests from your account; an already-created launch schedule record is retained for operational integrity.
Third parties
We use a small number of external services to run this site:
- Google Fonts — the Saira typeface is loaded from Google's font servers on every page view, which may log your IP address under Google's own privacy policy. This is a technical requirement for the site to render its typography and is not gated behind cookie consent.
- Our hosting and database provider — the infrastructure that runs this site and stores account data, located in the United Kingdom.
We do not currently run analytics, advertising, or tracking scripts of any kind. If that changes, they will only load after you actively click Accept on the cookie banner — see the Cookie Policy for how that works.
We do not sell your personal data, to anyone, ever.
How long we keep it
- Account data (email, password hash, consent flags) — kept until you delete your account, which you can do yourself at any time from Account settings.
- Security logs (IP/action on login attempts, and on signed-in account/admin actions) — kept for a limited period for abuse detection and accountability. If you delete your account, past log entries are kept for security purposes but unlinked from your identity rather than deleted outright.
- Your cookie/analytics choice — stored in your own browser, not on our servers, until you clear it or change it via "Cookie settings" in the footer.
Careers applications, answers and message threads are kept while the application and account remain on the site. Deleting your account permanently removes your applications, answers and messages. Staff can also delete an application when it is no longer needed. Flight application content and attachments follow the same erasure rule, while linked canonical mission records remain in the launch schedule.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018, you have the right to:
- Access your data — use "Download my data" in Account settings, or email us.
- Erase your data — use "Delete my account" in Account settings, which removes your account immediately and permanently.
- Rectify inaccurate data, and withdraw consent for marketing at any time, from Account settings or by emailing us.
- Object to processing based on legitimate interests, or ask us to restrict it, by emailing us.
- Complain to the UK's data protection regulator, the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk), if you believe we've mishandled your data.
Children
This site is not directed at children, and accounts should only be created by someone old enough to enter into these agreements in their jurisdiction.
Changes to this policy
We'll update this page as the site changes, and update the date at the top when we do. For significant changes, we'll aim to make that clear through the site itself.
